Foreman Farms

Shelbyville, Missouri

We are raising top-quality Red Angus cattle and utilize top genetics in our herd to achieve maximum potential in our herd. Our breeding program is based on sound, efficient, fertile, and docile cattle. Disposition is a very important trait to us, and our cattle are culled accordingly. Our program consists of a Spring and Fall calving cow herd. Our calf crop is closely culled and only the top calves are selected for market.  The majority of all our replacement heifers are marketed as open heifers ready to breed. Only the top steer calves are retained and finished at our own facility on grain and forages. We do not implant our steers, nor do we feed growth hormones throughout the entire time they’re being developed. Our steer calves are sold to individuals and businesses as butcher beef and processed at a local locker.  We strongly believe in practicing efficient Animal Husbandry and take great care of our cattle.   We take pride in our cattle and our goal is to produce the highest quality beef for your freezer and/or the replacement heifer for your herd.

Lamine Valley Red Angus is a progressive grass based cattle operation specialized in developing Red Angus seedstock and replacement heifers for the commercial cattleman. Located in the rolling hills along the Lamine River in Cooper County, MO, our cows run on fescue pastures in the hills. We produce corn, soybeans, and wheat in the undulating bottoms. We utilize cover crops for grazing when possible. We were formerly in the commercial feeder calf backgrounding and finishing side of the cattle industry for 25+ years. Purchasing light weight calves to background and finishing mostly in western Kansas feedlots. This gave us an intimate understanding of the needs of the commercial cattleman. We owned and fed several different breeds and types of cattle over the years. These breadths of experience lead us to establish our own registered Red Angus herd in 2004. We knew we wanted moderate frame, easy fleshing cattle with a lot of natural thickness. We wanted a docile, easy handling cow with good maternal traits. Registered Red Angus has been the sole focus of our cattle operation. We have a fall calving herd. We have been selling bulls in a yearly spring production sale held the 4th Saturday in March in Sedalia, MO. We also sell bulls and heifers throughout the year through privatetreaty. The commercial cattle producer is our primary customer.

We operate the farm primarily by ourselves, but rely on the generous help of neighbors and family. We

understand that a bull or female purchase is a big decision, and an important step to your future success and profitability. We invite each of you to contact us or come by, and visit about our program.
